Clear, clean water…yum

My idea to improve the world is to one day have clean water available for everyone living on our lovely mother earth.  Everyone should be able to get clean water from a source near them, especially since it is essential to staying alive.  Many people around the world do not have access to clean water and this can cause many health problems.  We may take it for granted that we can get free, clean water from anywhere mostly, but some people have to drink contaminated water because that is all they can get.

There are initiatives that aim to provide clean water such as H2O Africa, but I think there needs to be more awareness and attention brought to the issue.  Just because it doesn’t affect us in the U.S., or most of us here at least, does not mean that we don’t need to pay attention to it at all.  Think about how much clean water can transform a village in Africa or a poverty or disaster stricken area.  Having clean water can change people’s lives and it should be something everyone has access to, no matter where they are.

I like the idea. I actually have an idea along the lines of rainwater capturing that hasn’t been used yet that might be huge for Sub-Saharan Africa in particular. I would give details but I don’t want it to be stolen before I have enough money to make it happen, but I like the idea. And American’s also need to be brought up to speed with their water cleanliness issues as we noted in our talk about the Shale drilling…there are still a lot of places in America where people do not have access to clean water.

The only thing about capturing rainwater is that it is many times polluted as well. I’m not sure how easy it is to filter that though…

But, how do we raise awareness, Mackenzie?
