My idea to improve the world would be to stop world hunger. The world hunger problem is a devastating issue that can be resolved with a little help from the people who are more fortunate than these poor, starving families. This year nearly 9 million children younger than the age of 5 will die from preventable causes, with more than half of those deaths being hunger-related. In the developing world, more than 1.4 billion people currently live below the international poverty line, earning less than $1.25 per day which makes it a problem to obtain adequate, nutritious food for themselves and their families. As a result, 1.02 billion people in the developing world are undernourished. They consume less than the minimum amount of calories essential for sound health and growth (Freedom from Hunger). All of us know how important it is to be properly nourished and when we are trying to study on an empty stomach, it makes it hard to think. Just think what the fight is like for the children whose bodies are weakened and prone to diseases from starvation, it makes it hard to survive. Whether it’s providing food or a small donation to a world hunger organization, I think that we can help improve the world we live in by helping out the less fortunate by giving them the opportunity to live free of hunger.
